The New Elegant Honda Air Design is a new vehicle concept designed by honda’s advanced design studio in pasadena, california. the concept was created for the 1000 pound car design challenge put on by the la auto show. the vehicle takes its lightweight inspiration from skydiving and roller coasters, using compressed air to powered its pneumatic regulator system. The Honda Air Design system ‘utilizes turbo vacuums and external air-flow to regenerate tank pressure for extended range and increased boost for an estimated 100 miles’. to keep the car lightweight, all components are mounted directly to the chassis, eliminating unnecessary structures. the 2010 Honda Air Design exterior is made from vegetable based plastic wrapped around the body with an open-air style. the Honda Air concept is estimated to weigh only 800 pounds.
Created for the 2010 LA Design Challenge by the Honda Air Advanced Design Studio in Pasadena, CA, the Honda Air concept is defined as “a vision of the future of lightweight and alternative fuel performance vehicles”.
Honda Air Design Inspired by modern roller coasters and skydiving wing-suits, the Honda Air Design is powered by a compressed air and pneumatic regulator system and has a total weight of 800 lb.
The Honda Air Design, vehicle uses compressed air to power a pneumatic regulator system comprised of turbo vacuums. With a chassis composed of vegetable-based polymer panels, the vehicle weighs a mere 800 pounds and its reserve tanks can be filled via a gas station tire filler or a common off-the-shelf air compressor.
The 2010 Honda Air Design body of the concept is made from vegetable-based polymer panels, while the chassis is also used as a master tank and doubles all components, such as the seats, in order to keep the weight as low as possible.
